Still running XP?

Postby Sangersteve » Wed Sep 24, 2014 7:18 pm

Do you still have an older PC running XP? Worried about security holes? Well smile Bucky a developer has released XP service pack 4.

Since a lot of ATM's run on XP, the developer wanted to fix some issues. If it's good enough for an ATM, it's good enough for me.

I installed it this past weekend on the shop box, it went in seamlessly and didn't cause any problems.

I got it from:

I still occasionally use my old laptop, which has XP, but I'm not updating it because it's running perfectly as is.

After they completed the upgrade of computers at work to Win 7, they put a block on any computer still running XP from accessing the network. So even if you wanted to download XP updates, you can't. Personal XP computers are not blocked on the guest network.

When it comes off of its Beta run let us know or remind us again. Beem burned too many times on Beta runs to risk a good running machine right now.

I have a fresh factory copy of Win7 Pro, just too lazy to install it right now. ;)

I had a tech in my office fixing a problem with one of my laptops that was upgraded from XP to Win 7. He said that model of laptop is really not powerful enough to run Win 7. I have three of them.

I may try it after I get backed up. My XP is getting flakier and flakier. Freezes a lot. But, it's still limited to Explorer 8 which is getting to be a big problem. A lot of sites won't run it.
I don't think the end is near anymore. :D I think it's HERE! :o

I've got 6 gig of RAM in my Win7 laptop, and it's really not enough.
