Purdue football update

Purdue lost to Iowa last Saturday, 24-10.

I won't go into details, but the offense played poorly, and if you read the Purdue message boards, most of the blame is being placed on the qb. Defense played well, till they got tired.

Son is still starting at LT, but there is now a rotation of tackles because the JC they brought in to play LT is now eligible (after serving a 3 game NCAA suspension). Son starts at LT, rests two series; goes to RT for two series; then back to LT for two series; and so on.

Except that the starting center got hurt late in the third quarter, and son played center in a game for the first time in his football life (that goes back to sixth grade). His first snap was very low, and the qb dropped it, for a four yard loss. Son considered it a good start, because his usual bad snaps are over the qb's head and to the right. Every other snap was good.

Not sure if he will be at center or at LT on Saturday; game is vs. Illinois, on tv on ESPN2 at 11:00 central.

Wow. Thanks. Where's the blushing icon when you need it...

I don't think we did anything extraordinarily unique with either child. We set expectations; we followed up with consequences. Our kids learned their lessons early; and we had very few issues with them as teenagers. We made our kids our number one priority; we gave them our time and full support in all their activities, be it academic or athletic. One of daughter's biggest accomplishments is being accepted into Honors College at WCU; and she is on a partial academic scholarship at WCU.

Now that he is playing; it kills me not to be there. That is the only regret that we have with him so far away. It is expensive going to one of his games. We are already planning and saving for his senior year; my goal is for one of us to make every game.

Would you prefer that he was playing for SMU?

LOL, we have had that conversation recently. When he made "the decision" (funny, ESPN was nowhere to be found); it was between Purdue and SMU. One of his HS coaches told him, "you realize that if you go to SMU, your mom is three hours away by car, anytime..."

So was that in favor or against SMU?
