Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas is carefully evaluating a patient who may have Ebola Virus Disease.

Based on the patient’s symptoms and recent travel history, the patient has been admitted into “strict isolation,” said spokeswoman Candace White in a prepared statement.

Preliminary test results are expected Tuesday.

The hospital is following Centers for Disease Control and Texas Department of Heath recommendations to ensure the safety of patients, staff, volunteers, physicians and visitors, White said.

In August, Dr. Kent Brantly, a Fort Worth doctor who contracted Ebola while working as an aid worker in Africa, was treated in an Atlanta hospital for the virus. Brantly was discharged after nearly three weeks of treatment. He and another American aid worker, Nancy Writebol, received an experimental treatment called Zmapp.

It’s unknown if the drug helped or whether they improved on their own, as others who have survived the disease did.

If Ebola can ONLY be spread though body fluids, how is it spreading so fast in Africa? Is it poor sanitation? Or are we not being told the whole truth?

If the non infected person has tiny skin abrasions (chapped hands) and handles something with the body fluids of the infected person = infections pass.

How about mosquitoes?
They transfer bodily fluids.

Wondering: Why does the news media keep showing us the slide/microscope view of the virus? We don't see the same view for West Nile/flu or any other illness. I don't see why that is increasing my awareness of the virus---well, I do now know it looks like a squiggly wire..........

The news conference was an obvious PR job, trying to prevent panic.
If this person was safe during his flight over here, why did they refuse to identify the flight or the airline?
He was a Liberian resident coming over here to visit family members.
Why are we letting West Africans into this country, at a time like this?

This person is the first one in the US with Ebola. Was here for 7 days before they were diagnoiced.
Ch. 8 News broke in to the national news to broadcast a live new conference from the hospital. First time I've ever seen that!
So did Ch 11. And it's sound quality was much better. Ch 8 kept breaking up.
