On Bob Brinker yesterday..

Bob spent much of the first hour identifying how wrong the "naysayers" have been.

"THE DOLLAR IS GOING TO COLLAPSE!"

The dollar is up substantially of late..in fact, it is at 4 year highs against most foreign currencies. (I can attest to that) I just came from some euro countries, and two other more obscure currencies..and am soon going to the land of the British pound, and then to the land of the Yen.

And then there's the "Rampant inflation" bunch..yeah, right.

True, wages are pretty stagnant..but so is inflation..so that's a wash.

Then there's the.."There's no jobs" crowd..more than 200,000 jobs per month have been created on average for 9 months straight.

As he put it.."Naysayers couldn't have been more wrong."

The official inflation number may be low, but everybody that regularly buys groceries or fuel knows the score.

The relevant number related to employment is the labor force participation rate, and it is at a historical low. The government's official employment numbers are a big load of crap.

The Brinkster couldn't be more wrong. There are countries in worse shape that we are. Namely, China and Japan. The dollar only looks good in comarison. 40% of the Chineese leadership plan to flee the country during the next 5 years. They realize China is now a house of card. Wages are not stagnant, real wages are down. "Job creation" is BS when you don't count the millions who have dropped out of the workforce. The significant factor is participation by working age people in the workforce which is down. The Naysayers are the ones who are right.

Brinker thinks the system still works. Probably because it still does for him and most of his fans who are older people. But, for a lot of people, especially the young and the un or under employed it no longer does. They are basicly screwed. Brinker is blind to that.
