An unappetizing photograph of a teen's calorie-restricted public school lunch has drawn widespread criticism in Chickasha, OK. Chickasha Public Schools Superintendent David Cash responded to complaints from angry parents by blaming the meal's tiny portion sizes on federal regulations, contained within the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act promoted by Michelle Obama, that mandate age-based calorie limits for school lunches.

This while her own children attend Friends School who have chefs planning and cooking wonderful meals for the students there. A classic case of "Do as I say, not as I do."

What do you suppose the First Lady's reaction would be if her children came home from school hungry because they did not like the food served at school?

If you want your kids to eat turkey roll and brussel sprouts, feed it to them for dinner. Give them food at school that they will eat!

I'm wondering how many of those kids will touch the deviled egg salad or the blended broccoli soup. I know mine wouldn't.

And here's another novel idea. If you are concerned that your kids are getting high calorie, high fat food at school, how about YOU take them to the park, or bicycle riding, or even walking for an hour. Probably wouldn't do you any harm either.

Seems to me the problem is not the lunch. The problem is why should the wife of the president have any authority whatsoever about what anybody but her own family eats? How does this happen?
Why is it not fixed?

It may go back further, but I think it started with Lady Bird's "Beautify America" campaign. Ever since then, the First Lady has had some kind of signature cause.

I think Eleanor Roosevelt was the first one who did anything other than stay home and stay quiet.
She supported every communist cause in sight.
Jackie Kennedy completely redecorated the WH with high-dollar fine art that is still there.

I always took my lunch money and bought two hostess fruit pies.

The only thing I liked about high school.

I think Mrs. Roosevelt just did what she wanted to do. From Lady Bird on they became packaged PR campaigns.
