My Godson Stephen is at Harris Ft. Worth and has been since Sunday. Surgery more than likely on Tues. He was at TMS with His Dad Sunday and a Wheelchair Ramp gave way under him. Fracture below the knee and broken femur. Sounds like see spot run kind of stuff, but nobody on this board knows him. Some from the old one do and know he is a special need guy and the light of my life. When he hurts, I do too and I am suffering now.

I went to see him today. Surgery postponed until Friday at the earliest. He is so doped up, he did not wake up when I was there. His mom and grandmother were there. Have been since this happened. I lost it and cried like a baby. His dad came by the house on the way to spell mom and he reminded me of the fact Stephen has been through much worse. He has. He was minutes away from being declared dead during an earlier surgery in his life. In his 28 yrs he has had open heart surgery, surgery to fix his back due to another birth defect, and is mildy retarded. I have known him for 10 yrs and he is my own. Kay and I are the legal God Parents of this little man and I would fight to the death to protect him. He is the brightest light in my life and I am real worried.

Awww, of course we will all pray for him. I'm just seeing this now. I hope they are keeping him as pain free as possible. Please keep us informed.

Update as of Wednesday: Rough night last night, but he is doing a little better now. Temp is a little lower and kidneys are doing what they are supposed to do. Surgery to repair leg, maybe Friday, if things fall into place. You old timers here know I have no kids of my own, just my Pit-Bull. My wife worked with Stephen in Inclusion from Middle School to his graduation from High School. Without going longer than I should, I will say I now know how hard it is to see your own Kid hurt and you can only watch and wait. This is killing me. His Mom and Dad are keeping us informed as things happen and I am gonna stop and see him tomorrow on my way home from work. Another update on Thursday to come.

Thursday update. I spent a couple of hours at the hospital today, Stephen is still in and out of it as they are giving him all kind of pain meds. His color is so much better than the first time I went up there and surgery is a maybe for Friday. Not set in stone yet as his Doctor has final say on it. A lawyer for TMS showed up yesterday full of apologies and good wishes. Stephens folks finally told him to leave as the utmost important thing is getting him better right now. So while I was there, he showed up again and must have raided the Speedway Gift Shop as he had 3 bags of stuff for Stephen. Hats, Diecast Cars, etc..
You guys will know what happens as soon as I do. Thanks for being there and your good thoughts.

I'm glad his color is better, Dancer. I hope his doctor determines that he's ready for surgery today so he can get on with healing. Very glad they are keeping as comfortable as possible. I'll check in here tonight for another update. Prayers and more prayers!
