When I came home in 1964 I didnt hear many welcomes other than family. Today at the Dallas Veterans Day Parade I will give a loud clear Welcome, and God Bless you for serving. (Glad I came home, some of my friends didnt)

I was too young then to know what was going on. I'll never understand how men who served with good intentions could be treated poorly even if the war was unpopular. It was a different time I guess.

I think those reports are over done.
I served from 1967 - 1971. I was never mistreated or had anyone cause me problems when I came home.

I served as a Nile LCT operator in San Rafael Ca. (Near San Francisco in '66 and 67. WE used to go to Haight-Ashburry a lot and were always treated with respect by the "hippies".
In Berkley it was a different story! I always thank those who served, they have EARNED it!

Well, of course I knew about the 5 deferments and that he planned to go to Canada if his number came up. But, still, I think that is a little harsh Dancer.
