When I went through basic at Lackland we had a piper in our flight who had already auditioned for and been accepted by the now non-existent USAF bagpipe band. His visit to Lackland was just show BMTS on his record. Upon arrival at Bolling AFB outside D.C., he was immediately promoted to E-5 because the band only had non-coms playing instruments, no gnat wingers allowed.

Any other designation is redUNdant

There is no sound more lovely than that of bagpipes gently fading into the distance.
