Hear me roar!

The remote for our system is falling apart. The back is peeling off the back. Called Direct TV, and they sent me a new one (for a fee, of course). It is not compatible with our TV. The best I could do, was get it to change things, but not adjust the sound. I called Direct, thinking I was missing a step or ??
After she walked me through it (doing the same things I had done) it would not work. So, the tech help told me I would have to use two remotes--one for sound, one for picture.

I was NOT happy with that. Went off on her that it was low rent, and made as much sense as 2 TVs, one for sound and one for picture.
Too bad, says tech help.

So, I seethed for about a few weeks and then went seeking a new version of the old remote. I was successful!!
It came yesterday. This AM I successfully programmed it to function on all features.

FWIW, my husband won't mess with any technology items. He is most capable, but won't attempt. Meanwhile, he handles all other repairs etc. around here.

I'm so screwed the day when I have to figure out our TV's myself.
