1911 , got the itch to acquire one

So anyone want to share good / bad experiences with a specific model / manufacturer ?

I've spent time reading at 1911 boards. Rock Island junk for one person and another says his shoots better than his Kimber. I leaning to either a Springfield Loaded with nite sites or a basic Colt 1911. Buds & CDNN make it real easy.

I'd get a Colt , probably an older series 70 . Course I also like the Para Ordnance P14 -45 if I wanted high capacity but to me the Para is not a real 1911 but its a nice gun .

1 is military colt slide on an essex frame (govt specs)

I have a Gold Cup Model 80. New in the box, have never even cycled the action. I bought it about 25 years ago as a future replacement for my model 70. Model 70 is still doing fine. The next time I go to a gun show I may take it with me to see if it's age creates interest.
I have a couple of 1911 Govt. Issues. Never felt a desire to buy one of the knockoffs.

Clones don't concern me . The Kimbers, Rugers and Remingtons I've see are nice, Paras not as nice, then theres Armscor .
Would be nice to have a Turnbull crafted 1911.

Colt is about to go bankrupt, if you want a Colt get one soon.

The Rock Islands are good solid guns for the money, I have thought about buying one in .38 Super for a carry piece.

If I were going to buy another Colt I would look for a pre-UAW built one in decent shape, it will be pricey but hold it's value IMO.

The Remington's seem like a solid pistol also, as are the Springfields.

I would avoid the Taurus and Kimber based upon what I hear about them.

The S&W, Dan Wesson, and SIG built 1911s have a great reputation also, and are priced accordingly.

Just read parts of Colts amended 2014 3rd qtr and it makes me question their build quality and the $100 rebate isn't a motivator.

Looks like I'll be wandering Market Hall next Saturday. Way too many offerings for me to choose from without inspecting and I've missed on a couple of , what I've since realized , good buys. Sig from CDNN Red mentioned being an example.

A few years back I owned a Colt Combat Commander in 9mm, I foolishly sold it.
