I acknowledge that in a lot of ways I am a hardnosed, cynical old devil. However, I would not want politicians attending the services if it was for my family member. None!

Your thoughts?

For me it would depend on the circumstances, the loved one, and the politician.

Lets say one of these officers was your husband, son or brother. Lets say Mayor DeBlasio, VP Joe Biden, City Councilman from NYC, etc.

In that specific case I'd probably be too broken up to realize what was going on. But, if I did realize I'd ask all the cops in attendance to bar them from the funeral......which would probably provide all the face time they would want. Pretty danged tasteless of them to show up but then what do you expect?

Side question--Where was Ramos from, since his casket had the flag of another nation on it?

I think it would be OK for the chief of police was there, but the president of the fraternal order of police ( before the two police officers were killed) that there would be officers killed and the mayor better not show up for the funeral.

I attended a private funeral. When her kids called to ask me to go, they said since two of hers sons were judges, they didn't want a circus. They only wanted people that had been close to her. When I thought about, I agreed.
