It's time for the annual question....

Postby millergrovesue » Tue Dec 30, 2014 7:41 am

.......do you celebrate the new year? What do you do?

We stay at home and enjoy each other and a little champagne. Ham and blackeyes are a must as well as cabbage in the salad. I haven't been awake at midnight in many, many, many years.

It varies from year to year.
Most years we are at home. When the sons were teenagers, they came over and we played board games, drank my hot cider and saw the new year in.
Last year 4 couples came over and we saw the year in......
This year, with the threat of sleet, we are staying at home.

Wifes family has about 500 acres in LaGrange. We have been going there for about 6 years now. Looks like this
will be the last hurrah as they have decided to sell the place.
7 acre lake with great fishing and swimming.....no hunting. 2 cedar cabins & generally a great place to go in the
spring & summer.

Not exactly looking forward to this year as the weather is suppose to be nasty & cold.

That sounds like fun Twiggler. Wish we had a place like that.

I was considering taking my girls to Holiday in the Park at Six Flags but it looks like the weather might not hold up too well. So I guess we'll be cooped up inside. Maybe I'll go see my mom. She and my brother aren't speaking and I hate for her to be alone....

Twiggler, what a lovely part of the state. I used to pass through there regularly driving from Austin to Galveston.

Wife works on New Years Day so it will be an early evening for us. I will probably stay up and watch Delkus screw up the party in Victory Plaza.

I may have a few friends over, and fire off the cannon at midnight.

For me it is a time to reflect on old times....

Ah, old times..............like the time I was at a New Year's Eve party with a blind date. The guy was completely obnoxious. About 11 p.m. I had had about all I could stand of him and I left the party. I do not remember how I got home but I do remember chuckling to myself that he would probably discover I was missing when the countdown began. Yes, alcohol was involved. Come to think of it that may have been one of the last NYE parties I ever attended.

Sounds great. Y'all will enjoy meeting Karen. No need to bring beverages, we have a lot of most anything.
Except beer.
