Looks like he maintained control of the ball when he caught that..but what do I know.

Was it because the football hit the ground first?

Because it hit the ground right after Dez hit the ground.

One of the problems playing in the other teams house is that the officials may slant their calls is favor of the home team. Especially, close calls in critical games. Reason is they would like to get out of town alive. :D

after the catch

1. he turned 90 degrees towards the goal line
2. he took a step
3. he took another step
4. he took yet ANOTHER step
5. he stretched for the goal line

Ultimately, he was downed by contact when his knee hit the ground BEFORE the final stretch to the goal was complete

He made 5 football moves.... the rule of controlling the ball to the ground is moot if you make 1 football move

That's what I thought. It should have been Dallas ball on the 1 yard line.

Here's the way I saw it:
He caught the ball with both hands
Took two steps
Made contact with defender, which caused him to go to the ground
Took another step and dove towards the goal line, as he often does (football move)
Was down by contact when his knee hit

The refs are saying that the act of catching the ball and going to the ground was one continuous act. I say they blew the replay call.
But the Cowboys had several opportunities to put the Packers away before that: Before the half, when they stopped running the ball and got sacked, then missed a field goal, on Murray's fumble that obviously would have been a TD, and when they didn't run the ball on 3rd and 1. Stupid, ARGH!, and stupid.

Also, the refs failed to overturn the catch at the end of the first half that was OBVIOUSLY a trap, which assisted Green Bay in their scoring drive. It didn't provide the winning margin, but it was BS, especially in light of the Dez Bryant debacle.

That rule has been in place for 4 years and I've never agreed with it.

Dez was trying to catch the pass AND score the touchdown. If he had just concentrated on catching it the cowboys would probably been able to score pretty easily from the 1 or 2 yard line.
