Grand Daughter and Daughter should both like it.

The reviewer says it may have too much info for the casual reader, but those who like L.W. Wilder books will like it. Reviewer also indicates it is for adult level readers.

IMO, since your daughter is "into" Wilder, I'd get it for her.

thanks LL , I got it last night , 40 dollars but I grabbed it when I saw it . It was the last one available and Amazon said that they couldn't get it or something like that . Amazon was 30 but if they don't have it does me no good . Anyway , nice book , lots of info and the Daughter is close to where Little House starts out . I reread the Little House books about 15 years ago. Enjoyed them just as much as an adult.

yeah , I read them as a 9 year old boy , good books and a look into the fairly recent past for my Grand Daughter when she finally realizes what TIME is . My Daughter has already read them a few times .

I want this book too. Remember now hearing about it a while back. Wish I could get my ten year old interested in reading them...

Among my fond childhood memories is Mom reading the Little House books to my sister and me, and maybe one of my brothers, when we had the measles. We were supposed to be in a cool dark room and it was summer in Austin. The only room we had that was air conditioned was the living room. So Mom put us under the dining room table and covered it with layers of sheets, so we would be in relative darkness, and read to us about Laura Ingles and her family. Made the measles much more tolerable.

During 4th grade, I was home sick for a few days. I was up to The Long Winter in the series ( even back then, I had to read any series in the proper order ), which was the longest LIW book I'd encountered. It was good company and distracted me from feeling yucky.
