That's why I asked.

He is not a highly paid singer...not remotely close to the highest.

He is a highly successful song writer..and sounds like investor as well..who sings.

The highest paid singer is the person that can command the highest price..for singing.

If the "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is an indication of his work, he's way overpaid.

Believe it or not a narrative about the sinking of a ship with all hands is not supposed to be a toe tapping happy song.

I've been a lifelong fan every since I first heard him sing "Me and Bobby McGee" on the radio in about 1970. I thought his voice was the best male singing voice I had ever heard. And he was a terrific poet with the ability to write songs that didn't sound mostly the same. Great guitar player, he was the whole package.
Probably saw him live at least a dozen times in California. Today at age 77 he is still touring. I don't know why, I'm sure he doesn't need the money.
