How much would you charge

Got a customer broken down in San Antonio, I helped them diagnose the problem over the phone.

They need a part that is heavier than UPS will fly, Fed Ex won't take it for Saturday delivery.

They asked me to get it there by hook or crook for delivery by midnight Saturday.

$3125.00 for a courier to drive it, guaranteed to be there by midnight tomorrow.

Driver just called me while I was typing this, he left Cincinnati 12 minutes ago.

Would you drive here and back for 3K ?

Cincinnati to San Antonio and back?
It depends on how big a vehicle it takes to haul the part.
I'd do it in a car for 3,000.
I knew a guy who delivered RVs all over the country. He told me he netted $1,200 taking one to El Paso. That was 10 or 12 years ago.

I used to be in air freight & set up quite a few hot shots from DFW. For the life of me I can't remember what we charged. Someone from one of our terminals back east wanted me to terminate a shipment from the airline (8 hrs minimum for that) then hot shot it to El Paso, about 11- 12 hours. She thought that would be quicker than leaving it alone. She had no idea Texas was so big.

I might do it for $3000 but not if there were strict time constraints.........and I'd have to be able to take my sister with me.

cincinnati to San Antonio - 1200 miles +/-. 2400 RT $1.50 per mile. about 40 hrs RT / Gross $90 per hr.
probably too heavy for car gonna take a heavy weight pick up.

not a bad payday but I'd make sure the dollars were there, fuel prices down, probably stay a bit in San Antonio and eat some good Tex-Mex

I'd give it a go.

so what was the outcome?

He must not have stopped for anything.

Pulled in the gate in San Antonio at 1:45 yesterday afternoon.

So, he was definitely worth whatever he was paid....a person to keep in mind for future emergencies.
