How soon is too soon?

Mick Jagger is being openly criticised for flaunting new girlfriends 11 weeks after his long term girlfriend l'wren Scott commited suicide.
Her sister, amongst others are accusing Jagger of showing no respect to her memory.

Is there a 'decent' amount of time one should grieve for a loved one, or is he right to be moving on with his personal life as he chooses?

Don't want to cast any stones in these situations.
Life is for the living.......to quote from a book I once read........."If I wait, she won't be any more dead."

Though, I admit, I told my husband he'd better wait at least 6 months. :D

I am all for getting on with life, but there HAS to be some sort of grieving period to show respect, and also to get your own mindset straight.
This was being discussed on the radio today and one woman called in to say that at her Dads funeral her step mum got off with someone...they started an affair straight away.
Thats wrong on so many levels imo.

LL, I have had a similar discussion with my OH. :P

I dont think anyone need ask permission, you should live your life according to your own rules no one elses.
I imagine loneliness is a lot more painful than criticism anyway.

I thought this entire thread was about when it is appropriate to date after losing a mate to death? What is the magic number??

Everyone has there own opinion. Personally I think the eve of her OH's funeral to embark on a new relationship is stretching it a bit.
Some think Mick Jagger is being disrespectful after his girlfriend has been dead 11 weeks...others disagree.
I dont think one size fits all....do you?

There has to be a grieving period?

This was a GIRLFRIEND..of guy who has probably had hundreds.

It sounds like her family members are grieving for the loss of Mick Jagger..not their sister.

She was a bit more than a 'girlfriend'. They had been together for 14 years and lived together for the last 7 years. Thats probably longer than most showbiz marriages last nowadays.
She has left everything she owned to him in her will.

"She was a bit more than a 'girlfriend'.

I guess many thought so, but we now know..not so much.

Makes no difference to me..I never heard of her..I don't follow show biz marriages or love affairs.

For a Spouse at least a year, IMO.

I doubt Jagger was faithful to her while she was alive, so his actions don't surprise me.

I'm suprised the old buzzard waited that long.

Depends on the relationship. It was a girlfriend, not wife. I would expect longer if she had been his wife, but we don't have any idea how close they really were or the state of their relationship at the time she killed herself.

I think if they cared anything about standards of decency, they wouldn't have lived together without being married to begin with.
What Jagger does now doesn't make much difference.
