Stuff happens be careful.

Stephanie's Mercedes needed a few repairs and of course it is up to Dad to take care of the thing.

I had to get the front end up in the air to access a bolt, slid the floor jack up under the frame and took it up. Grabbed a jack stand to hold up the car, dang it it needs to be 2 inches higher to get my giant belly under the car. Let the jack down and placed a wooden block on the lifting pad, jacked the car back up.

As I was sliding the jack stand back under the frame I heard a crack and knew immediately the block had broken. That is as close as I have ever been to having a finger taken off or being trapped, just got the stand in place and moved my hand when it fell.

After is was over I thought of how lucky I was, home alone, cell phone well out of reach.

When you are involved in a task that could cause injury be more than safe. Feel free to use me as a bad example.

Are you OK? That had to be scary. I can't tell you how many times I've asked my husband to keep his car keys in his pocket so he could hit the alarm if something happens in the garage or out in the garden. Only one time did he really need me and didn't have them. He was clipping the hedges and there was a 4 ft.+ copperhead. He was holding it with a leaf rake. He did reach the door bell finally. He wanted me to kill it with the axe. I couldn't swing the axe hard enough with the torn rotator cuff. It didn't hurt, it just didn't work. Needless to say, it got away. Later, he said "That couldn't have been a copperhead. They don't get that big". HA after living in copperhead heaven for years, both of us absolutely knew it was.

Same thing happened to me once when I was trying to change the windshield wipers. Those darn things are tricky.
