Had Stephanie's Mercedes in the shop to do some stuff and noticed the two rear tires were near maypop stage 1.

Checked the interwebs for the best price, took them off the car and went to NTB. Walked in told the guy what I wanted. He gave me the out the door price and I said OK.

He asked where the car was and I told him at home in the shop the old tires are in the truck.

He said "do you have cash?"

No I have a platinum credit card.

Sorry you gotta have cash for carry out. There is a lot of fraud with carry out.

Told him I'll bet Discount or Wally World will sell em to me.

He said good luck.

She now has Wally World tires.

Why would any business refuse a sale when they get instant approval on credit card purchase, and if it was fraud it's the card carrier who get's hit.

There is no cash for them to put in their pocket in a credit card sale.

That is weird, I went to Firestone this week and bought 4 tires for my hobby car and had them mounted on chrome rims and loaded in the back of my truck. No problem with accepting a CC.

I'll never darken their door again. I was leaving for the coast on Monday and decided to get the oil changed after church on Sunday. I didn't ask them for anything else...just change the oil. Well, it took awhile and when the guy came back he told me that I had a big problem. I can't remember exactly what was wrong but it was something in the rear end. He made it sound like it was doubtful the car would make it back home. Well, it did make it home. Steve jacked up the car and could find nothing wrong at all. I was holding my breath all the way to Port Aransas. I traded the car in 2 years later and it was still fine.

My last two sets of tires have been purchased online. I mount them myself and take them to the local used tire shop for balancing.
