I've not seen nearly enough of these considering the number of years I've lived in Texas.

I agree with the majority of the suggestions. A few are absolutely ridiculous.

I didn't see the infamous Hippy Hollow on the list!

I wonder if it still exists. Haven't been there in probably 34 years. It used to be my favorite hang out on Lake Travis. I saw many a bad sunburn in most uncomfortable locations.

I'd want to see the Alamo and the Texas Ranger Museum , I'd eat and drink in some dives as I found them , check out some out of the way little towns and I'd be good .

I just googled it. Seems that it still exists and allow suits and nudity. ;)

It quit being fun when the world "discovered" it and they started charging admission. Ain't nothin' hippie about charging admission. ;)

Marfa was listed. Guess I assumed that included the lights as well as the stars.

Why Dalhart? I haven't been to that part of the state so don't know what is there to see.

Not much in Dalhart to remember from my few trips through there. Certainly not a place I'd want to live.

Wow...they left off quite a few in the original list. Two things I'd like to do that aren't on the list are visiting Jefferson and the Texas State Railroad. On the list, I'd like to take the girls to the Caverns and the State Capitol.

Why Dalhart ?

To listen to the wind, watch the prairie grass sway, and of course the Hanging Gardens of Dalhart.

Wichita Falls is a "must go to place".
It's the arm pit of the world.

In my opinion WF beats the hell out of Dallas and Houston.

Yep, if you like drought, 113 degree Summers and 10 degree Winters.

I've been to all 3 (WF, Dallas and Houston). All three suck.

Fort Worth I like.

One year, the grandkids and I did a "Texas history" tour instead of going to the coast on spring break. The year before had been pretty rough there. One child was "grounded". I convinced her mother that she really needed to go BUT she would make a scrapbook including each site. The kids loved it. We headquartered at my daughters in Smithville.
We didn't go west, just to San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Washington on the Brazos, Goliad (to the fort), Gonzales, etc. The last day we went to Hamilton pool.
