I am trying to think of some circumstance where I would open carry a handgun openly.

There aren't many I can come up with, but I am happy to have the flexibility to do so.

Twenty years ago, when CHL was being proposed in Texas, many of the people that are saying it is scary and will lead to duels in the street today; were saying the didn't like the idea of people hiding guns and if you were going to carry one you should do it in plain view.

The take away for me is emotionally based people will latch onto anything and change their justification at a whim.

Open carry is about the dumbest thing I think the legislature has passed since I came to TX in 1986. And I thought Rick Perry had signed some dumb laws. Now we can have thousands of people like those open carry asses in FW running around legally carrying a gun. That's just ignorant.

Speaking of ignorance, what the Open Carry wingdings are doing is legal, otherwise they would be locked up.

Texas is one of 7 or 8 states that does not have some form of handgun open carry process, it is a relic of the Carpet Bagging Yankee occupiers I believe.

I don't plan on doing it under most circumstances, no need to display the "shoot me first" open carry handgun to the bad guys.

I don't understand why anyone would want to openly carry either, but the law here in Oklahoma was changed to allow it a couple of years ago (for CCW holders) and law enforcement people I have asked about it indicate it has been a complete non-issue.

I think this is a political application of Newton's Third Law. If you push to restrict personal gun rights, this is what you get back. Gun owners just want to make their point.

I suppose they could just loot stores.

So know if I bend over to tie my shoes in public and my shirt slips up and flashes my Gat, I need not worry ! :)

Outside of widespread open armed conflict, that is about the only reason I can think of at the moment.

But it is silly that I can carry a shotgun or Rifle openly along side the highway legally, but not a 22 handgun openly, guess which one is the deadliest.

I think you are right, and if I ever carry a gun..it will be openly.

You had better be quick on the trigger, GFB, if you are carrying a "Shoot me first" sign.

Since he is willing to be a sniper, it should be a great story.
