Moreland placed on DL; Snyder called up
By T.R. Sullivan / MLB.com
ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have placed first baseman Mitch Moreland on the disabled list with a left ankle injury and called up outfielder Brad Snyder from Triple-A Round Rock.
Snyder is in the lineup on Tuesday night, batting sixth and playing first base. He was hitting .284 with 11 home runs and 51 RBIs with Round Rock. Snyder was hitting .364 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs in his last 23 games.
Moreland has batted .246 with two home runs and 23 RBIs in 52 games for Texas this season, playing much of the year with left ankle soreness. He will receive a second opinion on his injured left ankle before considering his surgery options, and any procedure would likely not take place until the end of this week. This is the third straight season for Moreland to have a disabled-list stint.
