PARIS — As officials struggled Wednesday to explain why a jet with 150 people on board crashed in relatively clear skies, an investigator said evidence from a cockpit voice recorder indicated one pilot left the cockpit before the plane’s descent and was unable to get back in.

A senior military official involved in the investigation described “very smooth, very cool” conversation between the pilots during the early part of the flight from Barcelona to Düsseldorf. Then the audio indicated that one of the pilots left the cockpit and could not re-enter.

“The guy outside is knocking lightly on the door and there is no answer,” the investigator said. “And then he hits the door stronger and no answer. There is never an answer.”

He said, “You can hear he is trying to smash the door down.”

While the audio seemed to give some insight into the circumstances leading up to the Germanwings crash, it also left many questions unanswered.

I imagine being locked out of the cockpit would be enough to alarm any pilot.

I am now thinking heart attack. But wouldn't the pilot have a key to get back in?

The Co pilot can fly the plane as well as the pilot.

Sounds like he deliberately liked the pilot out..then did what Muslims do best.

I think it will turn out to be a perfect storm of bad luck and careless lapses. One pilot leaves the cockpit without bothering to take his key, or maybe he is supposed to know a code to punch in to get back in but has forgotten it, the other pilot has a stroke or heart attack or something and there is not time enough to knock down the door.

The flight controls are not center located on this aircraft, therefore slumping forward would not necessarily push the yoke forward.

The plane should have been on auto pilot.

In the USA the law requires two people in the cockpit, don't know about German law.

The path to the ground was too gradual to indicate sudden failure.

This stinks.

Maybe the pilot had the fish.

So, the cause of the crash was not terrorism? I can sense the disappointment oozing through the board.
It was the reinforced door designed to keep the terrorists out!
Which is something that has never happened before, except in the 9/21 report!

Fox News refuses to give up the ghost. The copilot, Lubitz, must have intentionally flown it it into the mountains because he was still breathing!!! I suppose he was born and raised in an Islamic German sleeper cell 28 years ago where he was groomed for years by the Islamos for his moment to make history. Those fiends!
Or maybe he was breathing but unconsious? Naw! That could never happen!

When someone intentionally kills 150 people by flying a plane into a mountain..that's terrorism.

We're just waiting to hear about ties to Islam. Historically speaking, there is as of now..statistically zero chance that he has none.

They're saying the pilot was Ukrainian and that it was intentional. The other pilot should have been able to get in with a door code but the co pilot can keep resetting the lock every 30 seconds. This is what I heard on 1080 this morning from a retired pilot.

If there wasn't any Snackbar Shouting on the voice recorder it is doubtful if was Islam related.
