I checked my granddaughter's facebook timeline to make sure she and her baby made it to Houston to meet her husband there. She related how her son (18 months) had a meltdown while walking into Buccee's. An elderly lady leaned down to talk to him. She said something about old people need more room on a sidewalk. Kelsey was moving him closer to the wall. Kelsey said she was pretty sure the woman was kidding and since her son straightened up immediately when she said that, she appreciated it. One of her "friends" immediately posted that "I hate old people. All of them are grouchy and I avoid them." I did post "I'm sorry for you. You're missing out on a lot of wisdom and kindness." Was I being grouchy? She may think so.

Nope not grouchy, our new generation has become intolerant of any group other than their own. Just look at the universities, they are quick to shut down anything that might offend. To be so afraid of a point of view that differs from theirs is in effect a slap at free speech.

Parents today are raising a bunch of crybabies, too afraid to hear even the tiniest bit of something that offends their small brains.

Guess that young female doesn't realize that some day she's going to be one of those despised old people................if she's lucky.

My sister related 2 recent incidents with rude younger people not dealing properly with their kids - both in restaurants. In one she told the out of control kids their yelling and constantly running around everybody's tables was dangerous because people could trip over them. The second time it happened she went to the parents - and got cussed out.

This past weekend it was 2 screaming kids at a nearby table and parents who just yelled to be heard over the kids. As they were leaving Carol applauded loudly............and was glared at.

She said generally the most unpleasant people to be near in a restaurant are young women who are generally loud and screechy.

Too many people truly believe the world does revolve around them.

Typical liberal/Progressive attitude.

The elderly woman, with the wisdom that often comes with age, knew how to make the little tyke respond in a positive and constructive way. It was a calm, effective way to get him to change his behavior by changing the focus from him to her.

The Facebook twit is a self-satisfied ignoramus.
