Blue Bell- Doesn't look good

I saw on the news that the FDA had released a report that the Blue Bell Broken Arrow plant had been contaminated with Listeria since 2013 and Blue Bell hadn't been able to get rid of it.
They were permitted to continue operating because the contaminated surfaces did not come in contact with food.

Blue Bell also announced that it would be several months until it starts production again.
Blue Bell had previously targeted Memorial Day as the restart date.

Unless they have extremely deep pockets, I don't see how they can survive this.

It has always been my favorite ice cream. I've eaten a ton of it and didn't buy anything else. I would be a long time before I would eat it again. I would lay back until I could make sure it was clean. I think most of their fans would.

As long as it was not from that plant, I would buy it tomorrow
and eat some tomorrow.

It was found in the other plant also. Both are shut down.
You make a point, though. Maybe there are enough people who don't know what's going on that it won't hurt them that much.

I think Ice cream should be a local small to medium sized business. When they get as big as BB, they become too big to fail and they start to ignore problems that could cost them a lot of money. Best thing would be for the company to be broken up and sold off to buyers who will operate it properly.

Finding out they have had the problem for a couple of years does change my attitude. They should have shut down and fixed the problem before people died, not after.

Exactly, and the bigger they are the more unlikely they are to do the right thing.

I'll buy it as soon as it returns to grocery shelves. I don't eat much ice cream but NOT having it makes me want it more.

When I need an ice cream fix I go to Brahms. Good Kansas ice cream. My fave is Cappachino Chunky Chocolate.

Isn't Braum's based in Oklahoma City? Would they be bigger than Blue Bell?

They started as a dairy outside of Emporia, KS where I went to college. We hung out at their ice cream store. Maybe their HQ is in OK city. I don't know.

I'm treating this like air travel. The safest time to fly is after an accident.

They sold the Kansas business (Peter Pan Ice Cream) and started Brahm's in Oklahoma. When they sold the Kansas business, there was a 10-year no-compete clause in Kansas.

I think it's safe to say that they are not only fixing the plane, they are swapping out the main components for the newest technology.

Brahm's has good ice cream. Blue Bell is better.

I didn't say by the govt. I guess you assumed that. The free market can do the job very easily by refusing to buy their ice cream. Then it will likely be broken up and sold off to companies that can properly manage the business.

What about the other two of the "Big Three Bs", Bach and Beethoven?
