The Great Train Wreck could have been easily prevented

There is only 1 engineer on the train. He can't even go to the bathroom while the train is moving. You can correct this problem tomorrow. Put a 2nd person in the cab. Would you fly on an airline that had only 1 pilot?

sounds like a very [assumed] irresponsible union engineer with a weak bladder ehh . How long was the engineer traveling the route !! He shoulda pee'd his pants as that'd be preferable to him killing at least 7 people . But yeah , put 2 or 3 in the cab , ok with me !! Big city commuters will pay the bill and the guys in the cab can take turns watching porn on their little electronic devices .

That sounds like a serious reach, Greg.

Heard a guy, just now on WBAP, who was talking about electronic technology to keep this kind of thing from happening. Said it would be a redundant prevention tool. Makes sense to me.

I think it's ridiculous to have only 1 engineer.

I don't think it is a reach, because it is rare for a white guy to be put in a government job like that..like..non existent.

Once again, the Repubicons stepped in it by voting to lower the funding for Amtrak hours after the wreck. And this on a system which a former director of Amtrak recently said was borderline 3rd world.

+1 If government ran lemonade stands, it would cost $5 a glass, and we would have periodic typhus outbreaks.

Lets face facts. Amtrak is here to stay until the economic collapse, probably in a few months. So, the
question is just how to minimize the risk in the meantime. I'm reminded of Atlas Shrugged. As the competent people withdrew from the economy and headed for Gaults Gulch, things began to fall to pieces. One of the main things was train wrecks.

Ohhhhh...a time line, finally!

So if your big prediction of economic collapse that's been renewed every year for about 10 years..doesn't come true by the end of the year..will you admit being an economic idiot and fringe kook burger?

It's a guess. Nobody can predict when, just what.

Plan-0 you eventually take both sides of an issue don't you.
Rail against Guberment Debt, and then ask for more it :)

This Engineer Dude, reminds me of the German Pilot that augured in the Airliner a few weeks back.

I put my money on a Guberment Diversity Quota Hire.

As I said your aren't going ever going to get rid of it until the whole thing collapses. But, you can make it safer with adding another engineer in the cab.
That's a lot better solution than spending billions to put in an automatic train control system.
