Charity gave Bill Clinton $500,000 to appear at fundraiser

This is a story of excess on steroids.
I work for a non-profit and understand the concept of spending money to make money, but this is just wrong on every level. I won't even bother with Clinton's part in this, other than to acknowledge that a cheap way to get a celebrity at your function is to give them an award. The Clintons probably have to deal with that every day.
But it bothers me to see how the directors of charities use their positions to perpetuate their own extravagant lifestyles.
I will admit that I am surprised the NY Times ran this story
