Some laugh out loud stuff there!

Prior to the internet, a couple of us at worked listened to a radio station that had trivia contest. I can remember that we'd call the library to find out some of the answers. They were always very nice to us.

So what was your strangest/funniest request LL?

I'm not sure we ever won anything.

I'd have to think awhile to respond properly. Since I was in the elementary school, the questions were not as good as those at the public library.

The one I am soooo sooo happy to never have to answer again...."Where are the scary books?"
Lordy, I got sick to death of that one. I finally put them on a cart and put a huge sign on the cart.

One year I had a 4th grader who played "stump the librarian" with me every time she came to the library. She would have obscure questions for me. After I took the time to find the book or the answer, she would say, OK--Then move on to check out some other popular book. It was tiresome. She'd use up all my attention and time and then move on.

Guess your experiences are further proof that any job that involves working with the public has its drawbacks. Fortunately there are also the people who make the job a joy.

For me it would have been asking where the books were that had horses as a subject. When I went to the library I headed straight for 636.1.

So did you read all the Black Stallion books, Sue? I read quite a few of them as a kid. Those and the Little House books. My girls wouldn't be interested in either of those.

I didn't like the Black Stallion books because I didn't like Arabians............yeah, narrow minded. I read Black Beauty probably 30 times as well as every book by Rutherford Montgomery about 30 times. He wrote a series of westerns about the Golden Stallion. Read any other horse book I could get my hands on. Also read Will James, J. Frank Dobie. etc. etc.

Loved the Black Stallion books.

I didn't care about the breed, just the horse story. Black Beauty, Chincoteague ponies etc.
A few years ago we were able to visit Chincoteague Island and see some of the ponies.
