I could use some kind thoughts and best wishes tomorrow.

I am going to an early class (6:30 am) and then heading south on a trip to SodomSouth. The thought of spending a night in that liberal den of iniquity is abhorrent, but I have to do this. Hopefully I will be unscathed and return as a true conservative.

My beloved family are down (Mom, sis, BIL, 3 brothers, niece and family, nephew and family, single nephew) there so, at least in that aspect, you are safe.

From your description,I can only guess as to your destination. I believe you are referring to a place so insidious that the city leaders want to run business out of town by asking owners to install smoke scrubbers on their BBQ pits.
On the bright side you could have your brisket grilled over a nice clean natural gas pit with none of that annoying smoke flavor.

I am sitting on my sister's patio with a cup of French Cappuccino and my pipes.
It has been a nice visit and we will head back home around noon. Have not seen any flower children roaming around.
It has been good for my mom to see Mary. It has been all positive conversations, lots of talk about memories of when we were kids. I imagine Karen or I will be bringing her down every few weeks. Tis a good thing.

The flower children are all in their 60s and 70s now.

What you look for is transplanted Californians and New Yorkers.
What part of town are they in?

First exit off 35. About 3 or 4 miles sw. Texas Topaz training is their street. It is a huge adjustment for them to be here after spending their entire lives up in the Panhandle. But they now have daily assistance and have 3 young grandkids within a mile.
It might be interesting to go down to hippie hollow and see what there is to see.
In 're. the transplants, forkem'.

My BIL talks about the joys of Lubbock all the time. I can't imagine living where there are no trees. I imagine your folks feel claustrophobic with all the trees..........and all the people and traffic! But, you're right, it's so much better being close to family and help................which I why I want my family to all move up here. Yeah, like that's gonna happen.

Local politics in Austin suck, but the city itself is great!

Then why are people in your state moving to Austin in hoards and working hard to convert it to California east?

Maybe they should stay in California. According to Paul Volcker, California and Virginia have the most solvent state govts in the country.

And people move for lots of reasons..better job opportunities..(I did that 35 years ago..to California)..or cost of living or whatever.
But if they're really trying to make it more like California..that should tell you a lot.

I spent quite a bit of time on the patio. I have never heard so many doves cooing in my life.

They seem to like California east quite a bit. They are about as many of them as grackles.
