When Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders took the stage at Drake University in Des Moines Friday night, he got a standing ovation. The auditorium holds 700 people and it was packed, including the balcony.

The Democratic presidential candidate is doing something on the campaign trail even he didn't expect — drawing large crowds in Iowa, New Hampshire and beyond.

"If you were to ask me a couple of months ago whether we would have larger crowds than any other candidate out there, I would not have told you that that would be the case," he said recently.

In Keene, N.H. a thousand people showed up to see Sanders speak. They couldn't all fit in the room. Same thing happened in Minnesota — except the crowd was estimated at 5,000.

His reaction: "Stunned. Stunned. I mean I had to fight my way to get into the room. Standing room only. Minneapolis was literally beyond belief."

Which is the worst form of govt.? Socialism, like in Sweden, Iceland and Denmark. Or oligarchy like we have here?

ME , I'd prefer what I grew up with , always did pretty good working for myself to buy what I needed with money I earned !!

I still have it , feel bad for the young though , course I guess that they deserve what they get Steve !! But hey , tell you what , it doesn't look like what they are getting is very good .

Sanders is a DNC plant to make Hillary look moderate.

People have little chance to improve their lives in places like that.

I don't think coming out of college thousands of dollars in debt and living in your parents basement while you hunt ceaselessly for some kind of a decent job a great way to live.

They volunteered for all that.

But still..their useless, lazy, Obama voting lives can eventually improve.

Not so in Socialism.

If that were true you would see lots of people from the Scandinavian countries immigrating to the US. But, you don't see that at all. And I don't know that people that can't find adequate jobs are mostly Democrats.

On the campaign trail, politicians like Hillary Clinton and most of the Republicans all sound the same. They speak in generalities and promise the world to whichever group they are speaking to. Guys like Sanders and Trumps sound different. Everybody knows in their gut that the status quo sucks.

yep , youngsters volunteer for the college debt and the living in basements . There are lots of examples of the college debt , basement living amongst their friends and on the news so youngsters know what they are getting into . Best to go to work at minimum wage and then work and look for a better job , don't get a girl pregnant and keep a clean record and personal appearance .
