Public Executions

Should Executions be local and public? Maybe just public since the self-described oppressed masses where most crime takes place would be offended?
It has been shown that Capital Punishment deters or delays murder (one example:
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1 ... x/abstract). Naturally, there are studies that show both sides of the Pros and Cons of capital punishment, so I am aware that there is an argument here.
Having said that, Capital Punishment exists and until or unless it ceases to do so I think we should see it. And bring back hanging while we're at it. I'm not bloodthirsty by any means; I just think that as long as we have CP we should maximize its' deterrent effect by showing what will happen to you if you choose to participate in a Capital crime. I do however think they should be done in the central Walls unit in Huntsville, where they are currently carried out. Trying to hang a minority in a big city would not doubt insure rioting along with the obligatory burning and pillaging.
What say you?

No way would I be in favor of public executions. Barbaric. I would hope our society has progressed past that type of activity.

As long as it was conducted solemnly, with out making a carnival out of it, I would be for hanging the convicted on the grounds of the County Court House where they were convicted.
Attendance of the Jury and Prosecution would be mandatory.

If we want to be nice about it, let the condemned have a choice.

I'd leave the jury out of it.
If you load them down with inconvenience, you won't get any convictions.

Public executions will bring us that much closer to SCOTUS declaring the death penalty cruel and unusual punishment.
Botched executions happen frequently behind closed doors in prison death houses. Make them public and film them (which will happen) and the death penalty will be overturned.
Let's leave it alone.
