Many or most of the findings were based on studies in the U. S. The article makes the claim that moderate drinkers have the highest IQ's, but doesn't bother to point out that the only reason this is true is that the total abstainer group is weighed down by former heavy drinkers. All the findings amount to is that intelligent people tend to drink moderately or not at all:
