Thin New York strip steak on the grill. Used Sweet Baby Ray's sauce. Seasoned tater tots, salad.
You know those Yoshi grill mats they advertise on TV? Walmart has a version of them for five bucks and I bought one today. They don't really make grill marks on the meat like they say they do, but I wasn't surprised. Probably takes away some of the "grill" flavor. It was just $5, so no big deal.
I put the seasoned tater tots out there when I first fired up the grill and they were perfect when the steak was done. They were really good.
Cooking was just about as much fun as eating.

Bob read about the thicker cut recipe on America's Test Kitchen and is eager to try it. I have no idea whether Brookshire's does custom cuts or can cut a thicker steak. Haven't read the thicker cut link yet but the one he had listed some time cooking in the oven. I told him if you tried this with the thinner cuts we can buy you'd wind up with shoe leather. I sent this link to him.

The thicker cut link I posted is the one from America's test kitchen. It calls for a steak from 1 1/2 to 1 3/4" thick.
BTW- Kroger's has rib eyes on sale for $4.99 a lb through tomorrow, with additional $10.00 purchase. They're about 1" thick. You need a Kroger card but you can get one on the spot. Kroger has good meat.
