Is This The Big One?

I think it might be. I sold out yesterday. I'm no longer in the market except in one category. I don't own stocks, but I own mutual funds that do. I sold most of them. Ken Moriff doesn't think the big Kahuna market crash will happen till next year. I think he's wrong. Time will tell. Fortunately, the buy the dippers bailed me out and the market was up yesterday. But, the other thing yesterday was gold mining stocks which have really been hammered the last 2 years shot up about 6%. So, this could be their bottom. I'm considering buying some more.

Sorry, just a weak attempt at humour. Some will get it, some won't.

No prob. Ralph is a little different, but seems like a nice person. And I miss seeing "RINO" in every post.

Yeah, I agree. Seemed a lot alike.

For those of us keeping score at home, is there an expiration date on this latest in a series of warnings or does it extend ad infinitum?

Your welcome to play along at home. If I change my mind I'll let you know. I'm playing off of Ken Moriff's prediction of a bear market next year. I think he's right, but I think his timing if off.
My guess is Moriff will wait until the market is down about 20% before he issues a sell warning. Same way he issued the buy order in 2009 when the market had already gone up about 20%. So, instead of being out of the bear market like he promises, you will probably loose about 40% of your money.

So far my prediction is holding up. Yesterday, the market plunged like a stone, down over 2%. Today looks even worse, another 3% or more will be lopped off. So, what is the financial genius saying now? Is it time to sell? Here's what he wrote yesterday:
https://moneymatters.net/news-media/email-market-alerts/835-email-market-alert.htmlNotice how he asks the question if it's time to sell and then never answers it.

Is this the big what?
The stock market is down about 7% off it's all time high.
It's not even considered a "correction" until it is down 10%.
We are many months over due for that correction..which is a necessary part of any bull market.
If you're asking if this is the start of a bear market..that happens when the Dow is down 20%.
The Dow will be in the range of 14,000 before that happens.

I'm sure Bob Brinker, the Market Timer, will warn us if this could become a bear market.

You'll know on your own thanks to me.
An even better gauge..the S&P will be down around 1700..don't hold your breath.

Since you mentioned Bob Brinker..here are his 5 root causes of a bear market.
Tight Money
Rising Rates
High Inflation
Rapid Growth
Over Valuation
Not one of them is present.

Actually, rates would be rising if they FED had not been holding them artificially low for years now.
inflation is high if you calculate it like it was originally designed.
Rapid Growth is occuring in a lot of places.
Over valuation is occuring particuarly in the real estate market in many area.
If Brinker was an expert on the markets why did he not mention it when the last bear market hit in 2007 or even while it was going on? (According to Honey)
