Dairy Queen

Postby grouchy » Wed May 11, 2016 12:12 pm

I have not stopped at one for several years. I made the mistake of stopping in for a steak finger meal a couple of nights ago. Quality was terrible. I will not make that mistake again.

Back in the day 60s & 70s they were uniformly good, now in my experience they are uniformly awful.

Particularly in small rural towns.

I like Dairy Queen. My recent experience is that they are hit or miss. You learn where the good ones are.

In my area, the best Dairy Queen's are Mt. Vernon and Cooper. Our local Dairy Queen (Sulphur Springs) is not very good.

We have a new one. The old dirty one was much better but it was old and dirty so I didn't like to go much.
Zephyr thinks he's smart. He said onions are the only food that makes him cry. So I threw a coconut at his face.

Youngest talked me into getting a jalapeno burger a couple of years ago... it was gooooood!

I like their shakes with stuff mixed in. Haven't had one in ages. I'm too old to process that many calories.

Food notwithstanding, probably still the best place to catch up on the local gossip.

I was just going to say that Dairy Queen probably sells more coffee than anything. Small town Dairy Queens are the meeting place early in the morning for many ranchers and farmers.

There are two old school Dairy Queen's within 5 minutes of my office in Ft Worth. Their burgers and ice cream are ok, about the same as Sonic which is closer to me. Don't care for their chicken fingers. If they still have Orange Julius's, those things are NASTY!!!

I'm waiting for a new one at Hebron & Huffines to open. That means I'll ever go to Sonic again. DQ is right across the street. I hate Sonic.
