American Community Survey

Postby crocmommy » Fri Jun 03, 2016 10:26 am

Have you or anyone you know ever been requested to comply with this? My mom is being pestered to comply and it's not optional. They can fine you $100 for not complying and $5000 for lying on the survey. The govt is sending my mom multiple deliveries by mail at her house and someone just taped something on her door. It's very intrusive. Here is an article about how the republicans tried to make it voluntary in 2015 ( and 2012 too). Obama would have vetoed it.

I'll check out the link but my theory [GUESS] is that compliance might be mandated by government . Same as mandated Obamacare and isn't the Census mandated about 2 censuses ago ?? I ask this as a question because I don't remember exactly and for sure and I haven't looked for info yet . If I am correct I see thus survey as just being more TRAINING of the sheep , not that your MOM is a sheep CMommy . As an observation many people see these intrusive questions as being for the Good of the so called Community while 20 years ago the general reaction by people like my Father [and me] would be , that's none of your business . Nowadays people just get in line to ask for MORE [not your MOM] !!

No my mom is NOT a sheep. She is very annoyed and trying to avoid them. At this point, she would hand them a Ben Franklin so they would go away.

its a slippery slope as you put on your mandated motorcycle helmet or your cars seatbelt or pay your fine or payment for mandated obamacare or fill out the mandated community survey or mandated census . Yep , there are lots of government mandated [forced] mandates here in America , the Land of the Free !! And be careful of the smoking police if you light up a smoke in your privately owned bar , restaurant or casino that wants to allow smoking . I like to think about where the slippery slope will lead for 5 year old American kids as they will be perfectly trained by compliant parents , government paid teachers in public schools and general society for the future .------------- and aren't peanuts disallowed on airplanes and I some school cafeterias ??

Mom wouldn't want us collecting money for her. She can afford to pay it if need be.

STILL , the mandate and slippery slope exists , is un-American and should be canned . All these mandates that I mentioned should be canned for the good of all the 5 year old widdle kids that will be Forced to comply .

I feel the same way about seat belts. Motorcycle helmets are not mandatory here in Texas. They repealed that law. My only issue with motorcycles and helmets is that whoever is riding them had better be carrying enough insurance to cover the risk of severe injury. Not fair for the rest of the taxpayers to have to foot that bill. But I'm sure that can be said of many things.

family , charity or let them meet God is my opinion . My main point is that its all part of the same scam which is simply MORE never ending mandates and exchange of money while freedom is lessened and more tightly regulated .

I wish you could see what was taped on her door with scotch tape!! A card stating that the deadline is TONIGHT in all caps. Mom says that they are treating her like a criminal.

We were hit with this one probably a decade ago. I refused to complete it and met the info. gatherer at the door when he showed up. Told him, in person, I wouldn't provide the info. and that toilet count, salary, and the other intrusive questions were no one's business. Told him to do whatever they do but I would not comply. Never heard from them again and have never received another form like that.
Working to love my fellow person regardless : >

Hey Sue , similar happened to me maybe 10 years ago . I just got phone calls from a phone survey but they were numerous phone calls. My main message to the person was that if he was government paid was that the info that he wanted was none of his business and i also told him that he worked for ME !!

These people are probably paid based on the number of completed surveys they collect, so they are motivated to be "persuasive."

I will tell my mother that you did that Sue. She knows you in person so that will help her to hear that.

------------ CONTINUED from last post , ----------- Rather than ME working for government or him . i say that answering personal questions are none of his or governments business . None of your business was a common phrase from my Mom and Dad and other people knew that phrase and understood its meaning as people instinctively minded their own business in common polite society . I remember one time as a 12 year old asking my Dad how much money he made , he hurt my feelings as he put me in my place but his words were a good lesson . --------------------------- OFF TOPIC , but does anyone notice when young people , or older people like a a bank teller calls you by your first name rather than as a mister or other proper 'Title' when doing business ?? I notice it , don't really care as i just call the bank teller that does that to me a punky person as i explain to him how to address paying customers !! Mostly , i just ignore the impropriety but its an interesting phenomena for me to see .
