Seth Rogen and comedy partner Evan Goldberg are known for their hilarious movies and lack of boundaries, but their latest film starring Rogen himself and actor James Franco may have sparked an international conflict.
Rogen and Franco’s movie “The Interview” is set to be released this fall, but the plot has North Korean leaders deeming the film an act of war. In the movie, Rogen and Franco play a talkshow host and producer who go to North Korea to interview dictator Kim Jong-un and are subsequently recruited by the U.S. government to assassinate him.
The trailer was released earlier this month, and in response, North Korea’s government is calling it an “act of war.”
“Making and releasing a movie on a plot to hurt our top-level leadership is the most blatant act of terrorism and war and will absolutely not be tolerated,” a spokesperson said. “If the US administration allows and defends the showing of the film, a merciless counter-measure will be taken.”

Despite their threats, North Korean officials reportedly say that Kim Jong-un plans to watch the movie once it comes out.
