If they reduce spending to a level this country can sustain while reducing the deficit I don't care what politicians call their political party.

What we have now are a bunch of people who spend spend spend, while whining that the people across the aisle are the problem.

Republicans say how great Reagan was and some even say Perry is great, while seeming to ignore they are/were D retreaded as R's

Everywhere that an Establishment type Republican has been replaced with a Tea Party type, the Tea Party type has made some noise, and the House is slowly becoming more Conservative as more pressure is put on Boehner.

It's MORE dramatic when it happens in the Senate, as we found with Ted Cruz.

Well, I will agree that Cruz's shutdown of the govt. was pretty dramatic all right.

I have 3 grandsons of voting age ..(and one 48 yr old son & his wife) that are tea party members ..

My 16 year old grandson, cannot vote yet, but he is leaning toward tea party also..

I think a lot of the young folks are !! at least the ones I am around !

I have thought about this quite a bit. I remember when Democrats loved America. They did a lot of things which were wrong and harmful to America, but did it with the best of intentions. They despised the Socialists, and resisted them, but they eventually died out and the radical, America-loathing reprobates took over. They radicals just had to play the long game; they did, and they have purged the party of almost everyone with any decency and common sense. (Zell Miller was the last of the old-school Dems, and he would most likely be considered a Tea Partier today).

The task for the Tea Parties is different and more difficult, but if they stay the course, they can have a similar effect. The kleptocrats in the GOP (like Thad Cochran) despise the Tea Parties and will resist, but young people will choose integrity and calls for action and change. Young people increasingly realize that their future is being compromised by the kleptocrats in both parties, and the Tea Parties are the only alternative to that. The Tea Parties don't have the schools and media brainwashing the people from cradle to birth, but the lies of the Progressives are becoming increasingly stale, blatant and obvious.

Unless the GOP completely craters (ala the Whig Party), it doesn't make sense for the Tea Parties to bolt. As a movement within a party, the Tea Parties can remain focused on economic/fiscal issues, and not get mired in social issues like abortion, gay marriage, religion and such. Keep hammering away at the go-along-to-get-along kleptocrats in the GOP, and play the long game.

The Republican Party left me with the budget deal of 1990.

Ted Cruz did not shut down the government. People who aren't paying attention are the ones who say that. And those same people didn't see or hear the ruthless way Obama played it. "Punish the people as much as possible because I didn't get my way" was his goal.

No, the Tea Party shouldn't leave the Republican party. I'll stay and fight no matter the entrenched establishment's tactics. We are fighting for our nation and our kids and grandkids.
