Well, I've been controlling a live oak tree in our front yard that way for over 20 years and I haven't managed to kill a twig. The tree has to be 30-35 feet tall and if I hadn't snipped away at the limbs like I did all afternoon, the sucker would be touching the ground on all sides.
The old beauty may fall over dead tomorrow, but it's sure looking good right now.
