I was just "lit up" by some Yellow Jackets - I am treating the stings with ice.......and a little Kentucky snake bite medicine

My great grandad would put chewing tobacco on us when we were kids.

My Dad and Grandpa used the same remedy - unfortunately I don't have any Brown's Mule or Beech nut at hand.

I really hate yellow jackets because they just keep on stinging. Nasty little critters. Their stingers are slick so they don't die, but sting over and over. Last year was the first time I was ever stung by them. I grabbed the trash container and they'd built a next under the handle. So there were about 4 or 5 stinging me. This year, I went out to water the flowers on the front porch. No one uses the front door and they'd built a nest above the door. Got me again...

Yellow jackets are environmentally helpful, so I leave them alone unless they intrude on our territory. (Like over the front door.) Last year they moved into our backyard birdhouse and built a huge nest. Took some judicious maneuvering to get them out of there.http://www.doyourownpestcontrol.com/yellowjackets.htm
