WFAA reports that JWP will meet with federal prosecutors on Wednesday to let them lay out the case they have against him.
Often this brings a plea deal. I doubt JWP would ever plead, but looks like the show is ready to begin.

I don't trust Holder's DOJ to prosecute one of his "People".

When you have 200K in cash in your safe it probably didn't get there legally.

It's gotta be racism why he was ever indicted.

I saw him on television tonight with who looked like Diane Ragsdale.
I wonder if she's involved in this.

It was probably his female assistant. She is in danger of prosecution also.

Then Price will walk.
There are statutes of limitation on the kind of crimes he is accused of.

So if federal prosecutors say they want to have a meeting with you, you can just say no?

Dallas Morning News:

An attorney for Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price said he cancelled a meeting scheduled for today with federal prosecutors about his public corruption case.

Billy Ravkind told The Dallas Morning News last week that federal prosecutors asked for a meeting with Price and that he and the commissioner planned to attend.

But Wednesday afternoon, Ravkind told The News that the meeting was canceled because “I don’t think we can accomplish anything.” He said the decision to cancel the meeting was a “mutual” one. When asked if another one was scheduled, he said, “I don’t think we’ve got anything planned.”

For now, he says, he and federal prosecutors “haven’t discussed anything, nothing of any substance.”

The U.S. attorney’s office declined to comment.

Price this week deflected questions about whether he would go.

Ravkind said on Friday that prosecutors had asked for the meeting and that the invitation came shortly after Price received a formal target letter. Ravkind said he believed the government wanted to show Price its best evidence against him, in the hopes of seeing whether the Democratic commissioner might entertain a plea deal.

But Ravkind said he and Price would just listen to what they had to say and that he didn’t think there was any chance of Price agreeing to a plea deal in the case. Ravkind said he thought tax evasion charges would be a big part of the case against Price.

Price’s longtime assistant, Dapheny Fain, also has received an invitation to meet with prosecutors, her attorney has said. It’s unclear whether that will happen.

Ravkind’s disclosure of the meeting last week is the first substantial indication that the criminal investigation is progressing toward an indictment. Ravkind said he believes his client will be indicted.

The investigation has been active for at least the past three years.

Three years ago, federal agents raided Price’s home and office and seized money from a safe in his Oak Cliff house. In 2012, the U.S. attorney’s office filed court papers to keep the seized money.

But that forfeiture case has been put on hold pending an outcome in the criminal case. And no significant developments have occurred until now, except for the issuance of more subpoenas earlier this year.

I doubt that he fears an indictment; and if he does, what are the odds that a Dallas County jury convicts him of anything?

This won't be county - it will be federal. And the feds' track record on prosecutions is pretty good. That's why this investigation has taken three years. They won't go forward unless they've got an ironclad case. Right now is when Rivkind will earn his money.

It'll be federal but the jury will be made up of Dallas people.
You can bet that at least half of them will be black.

Whoever said that Holder might decide not to try him might be onto something.

Historically, the black turnout for jury duty has not been very good.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on TV, but here's my two cents.

They've got the goods on JWP and Ravkind is trying to maneuver for the best deal he can get for his client. When he determined that they were not going to better their position in this meeting with the feds, he passed on the meeting. The business about too much publicity is a canard. You don't take on a client like JWP without taking on the baggage he brings with him.

This is gonna get good. We have all seen him slip through time after time. Maybe the Feds will nail him this time around.

I think Bix Tex nailed it. The feds have hard evidence that JWP has done some unethical and illegal things.

The meeting was just a formality to lay out the case against JWP. To let the defense know they are moving forward with prosecution.

The lawyer knows whats up and missing the meeting was no big deal, they couldn't gain anything so they took a knee.

No way did the feds want a meeting to say, well we can't find anything your client has done wrong, so have a nice day.
