I'm so sorry. I'm pretty sure it's not just the boys that are devastated, Grouchy. It's one of the hardest things in life. If only our pets had a longer life span.....

I see how hard it would be to lose a dog. Always thought I would only be a cat person. But got a dog for my youngest child, and have grown so attached. I love them both, but the dog is so much more interactive all day long. It would already miss him terribly if something happened to him.

Again, my thoughts are with you Grouchy.

Thanks to all of you. We are now down to just three dogs. This time two years ago we had six.

I am trying to convince Karen that we need to get a Dane to replace Airn and Sadie.

I didn't want to ask this morning, but was this one a yorkie? I thought it might be a dane I love big dogs but their life span is not as long as smaller dogs. The grief is very hard which ever breed it is though.

Yes she was a yorkie. Sixteen years old.

You are right about the Danes, but I truly love them.

Heck, bottom line is that I just love dogs. And horses. And cattle. And ferrets. And hampsters. etc....

Add me to the list of those who mourn these little but , grand beings. Those of us
who love critters know purty much how you feel. Very sad, very sorry.

I spent several mons being deeply depressed in the early nineties. After I had farted
around in bed for a time, our little calico jumped up on the bed yeoweld at me,
pulled at and groomed my hair, and finally danced on my head until I got up.

I didn't lose my depression, but I sure got four paws up that day. Now I'm a lot
less depressed and we've had four wonderful cats since her (all rescue animals) we
have two now "Bean" (who would name a cat, Bean? my wife would) and
"Hellboy." The calico was name Fuzzy Butt ... well Allie really, but Fuzzy Butt
stuck.

I have experienced great happiness with my cats and I never thought I was a cat
person. Truth be told I think they chose me rather than the other way around.
Krap! I find myself tearing up as I write this.

I don't know how anyone exists without pets of some type. I need my little critters.

Thoughts and Prayers to all. Tell The Boys about The Rainbow Bridge. It's a place where all Pets go to wait: When you finally get there, they meet you, lick your face and tell you how much they have missed you. All is made new, nobody hurts anymore and eternity is yours.

Grouchy, I'm that way, too. I just love critters (except venomous snakes). I love sitting on the patio and watching the little lizards catching moths, while the toads are hopping around. When it was so hot and dry, Steve and I were sitting out there watching the toads go from big flower pot to big flower pot. It took me a couple minutes to realize they were looking for water. I went inside and got a clear plastic "plate" that you put under plants. I filled it up and darn if those toads didn't jump in it and stayed in it till we went inside. This was a small one and only two toads could fit in. I got up before 6 the next morning and there were toads waiting in line! I got a bigger plate. Once the rain came, they've ignored their wade pool. But I still put clean water in it every evening.

We've been invaded by I think they're called "miller moths" or pantry moths. It happened a couple years ago, too, so everything in the pantry is in zip lock bags. Steve also ordered these card board, sticky things again. I looked over the package and it had an EPA number on it. I knew I couldn't put that filled card board thing out for the little lizards. I had to kill the moth fluttering by and take it out and put it on the window screen for the lizards. I know, I need to get a life!
