Bobcat Excitement

This morning, about 11, a bobcat came into our back yard.
He wanted to make himself at home. After we snapped a few photos, my husband scared him away--we were not anxious for our cat to become his evening meal!

One of the joys of living by a creek.

Wow! I've been to your place. Not exactly the woods.

After more than 10 years together, all 3 of our cats disappeared last year, one by one.

Bobcats, coyotes, hawks....not sure who got them.

I've seen a couple running across the road, but never up close so don't know....might be the same one. The first time I saw it, I was on blue tooth with a girlfriend. As the teens say, I was like "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" She was like "What?! What?!"

I usually see bobcats early in the morning crossing highway 11 between Commerce and Sulphur Springs.

Mom has them in her Frisco neighborhood. Can't leave your pets out in the yard unsupervised. But killing them not the answer. They do control the rodent population. My lazy cat sure isn't going to do anything about it.

I'm going to revise my statement about not killing them. I have no idea about the bobcat population. I would be concerned though that they have no natural predators in suburban areas....kind of like wild hogs. The population may need to be controlled but we can't have hunting in suburban areas, so what do you do?

I was turkey hunting early one morning by an old culvert, and a bobcat came out of it about sunrise. I am not certain who was more frightened, me or the bobcat.

I have seen only three Panthers in the wild in over 50 years of being outdoors.

I have seen quite a few Bobcats.
