They loaded very slowly.
I checked out numbers 25 to 40..and I''m happy to report I actually knew of one of them..number 40.

You need to get out more, GFB!
I don't care for C&W, but went back and recognized over 15 on the list. I might recognize more if I hear the music, but I didn't take the time to play the recordings on that site. --But then, I live with a man who is in love with C&W.

Well, there was no C&W where I grew up..and it's one style of music I never listened to, and haven't even heard of many of the artists.

This one should have been on the list. It is both beautiful and sad.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXbCVQ_hCQwAnd for the record, Rosanne Cash should have been a much bigger star than she was.

I can't ever remember Townes, or Gauthier or Lucinda Williams being referred to as "country". Or any of their songs. But, if they are going to mention them, they should have included Steve Earle. He's not country either, but he did live in Nashville for a few years. I'd include his "It doesn't get any lonelier than this"

I can't really argue with the list. But I would definitely put Statue Of A Fool by Jack Greene in there, and close to the top. Not only sad, but one of the greatest country songs ever.

David Allen Coe - You Never Even Called Me By My Name

A bunch of Clearasil Country on the list, but many solid country songs also.
I would add "What made Milwaukee famous" by Jerry Lee, "Soldiers last letter" by E.T., "Early Morning Rain" written by Gordo and sung by George Hamilton IV.
Rusty had a good suggestion also.
If you don't like C&W you are a Yankee or a Commie

I only knew 12 of them, and I've listened to country off and on my entire life.
An aside: not long after I got married, I was telling my wife about Johnny Cash's "Sunday Morning Coming Down," and I sang the line of, "The beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for dessert." Until she actually heard the song many years later, she swore that I just made that line up.
