Perry probably did overstep his bounds.
This will also get the drunkard DA a little more exposure.
Every story I see has her booking video attached to it.

This is a crock of ===== Another witch hunt to try to protect a drunken district attorney that doesn't have the integrity to resign after a blood alcohol over 3x the legal limit. Did you hear her demanding they call the sheriff? She was abusive to law enforcement and thinks she's entitled to keep her job (but she can prosecute other DUI's?) and handle millions of $$$ in investigating other agencies? I don't think this reflects on Perry's reputation, it really reflects her disregard for the rule of law. I didn't vote for Perry, but I will defend him on trying to do the right thing!

What's good for the governor should be good for the president. If you want to see a revolt in Texas, this may be the start. How long did the Travis County DA prior to this one, keep Tom Delay in limbo with his accusations? And after YEARS of going after Delay, he couldn't come up with one thing to prove any of his accusations. Way to screw up people's life for years, just to be vindictive and try to advance the demoncratic agenda. I guess that misspelling was an unintentional slip.

He's accused of threatening to veto, then vetoing funding for the Public Integrity Unit that was investigating alleged corruption having to do with mostly Republicans.
He demanded the resignation of DA Lehmberg otherwise he would veto the funding, which he did.
Had she resigned, Perry would have appointed her successor.

Had he simply vetoed it and kept his mouth shut, there would not be a case against him. He can legally veto anything he wants to.
The allegation is that he was applying pressure to the Integrity Unit to let him take it over otherwise he would shut it down and was using Lehmberg's DWI as an excuse.

I don't necessarily agree with any of this, but that is the essence of the case.

The Leg must get that Dung Heap of Travis County Rats away from the Public Integrity Unit, and make it an Independent Board or some such.

The low down crap they pulled with DeLay, Hutchison, and now this is Stalinesque - which is par for the Rats.

Another way of looking at it:
What if Clinton had threatened to veto funding for the special prosecutor's office as long as Kenneth Starr was the prosecutor.
He demanded he Starr resign so he could appoint his successor.
That's the kind of thing Perry is being accused of.
