Grand Jury says no charges. For the other 1 or 2 Cup Fans here this is good news.

I was gonna put that in, but decided not to do so. Stupid can not be fixed, as the results of that deal clearly show. That kid had some good things coming his way, but chose to screw it all up.

I wonder how mom & dad will spin the marijuana angle...

After today's news, the family is claiming that they are going to "pursue all remedies" in the case. What they really should do is just quietly go away.

Tony isn't my favorite driver but he wasn't guilty of running the kid down. The kid was obviously out of control from what I saw of the video. But the cherry on top for me was Mark showing the limited visibility from inside Tony Steward's car.

I raced on dirt for 28 years. Alcohol and drugs have place anywhere near the sport. Strapping into a race car under the influence of any mind-altering substance is truly stupid...

I wondered if you were the Mark who used to race cars. I always thought your posts about racing were interesting and insightful. Didn't you have a youngster in college who was in the band?

Yes, she graduated summa cum laude and with highest honors (they are actually separate and distinct designations at that school) with a degree in math at Texas A&M-Commerce last May. She is now working on a masters in actuarial science at UT-Austin. She was in marching band and the wind ensemble throughout her years at Commerce. There were always very few non-music majors in the wind ensemble, but she was one of them. She should graduate with her masters next May.

She's a terrific kid, er uh, now a young lady, too. After the tragic accident, I went to Mark for his opinion. Having been in those type cars, I knew he was the expert. But the real reason is that's he's totally honest.

That is absolutely awesome, Mark. Thanks for the update.
