I stopped by the local Walgreen's and learned that they do perform the blood test --and you have to have fasted for most tests.

Not a bad deal. Wonder how much Walgreens charges.

I forgot to ask the fee. (kicking myself--but they were busy and I didn't like taking time when so many were waiting)
One article said $3.00 for cholesterol testing.

from Wikipedia

Theranos uses a fingerstick to draw a micro sample of blood into a cartridge, which is loaded into a local reader for analysis. The results are sent wirelessly from the reader to a secure database.[12] The company says that the results are received faster than the usual three-day delay for centralised laboratory testing,[1] up to 30 blood tests can be performed on a single blood sample,[19] and its method ensures accuracy by eliminating or reducing most human handling and delays associated with traditional blood tests.[19] Theranos initially targeted its blood testing services at clinical trials for new drugs, because frequent testing can provide early indication of whether a drug therapy is working or causing adverse reactions.[12]

Theranos began to offer services directly to consumers via Theranos Wellness Centers located inside Walgreens stores in 2013.[20] Theranos offers blood testing services in pharmacies in California and Arizona.[21] Theranos' blood tests mainly cost under $10, e.g. blood cholesterol at $2.99; the company claims low-cost blood tests could save US Medicare and Medicaid around $200 billion a decade.[19] Theranos holds more than 10 patents,[22] including patents on wearable blood monitors and influenza virus detection.[3]

I saw that. Just wondered if that is what it cost Walgreens or what they would charge customers.

Friend says about a year ago he had them test him for diabetes and it cost him about $20.
He was doing that before going to a dr. for confirmation. He suspected that he was diabetic and used Walgreens test to confirm and then made his dr appointment.
