It's the money supply that inflates or deflates based on how much money the FED creates out of thin air.

..and we do not have deflation. We have disinflation.

China is presently having deflation..deflation is very bad.

Deflation is prices and the value of things actually dropping. It often starts a spiral that is difficult to reverse.

Disinflation is good. It’s a former inflationary environment coming back to normal.

You should read about these things.

Learn what these things I mentioned are, first..then you can worry about the various things that CAUSE inflation.

The same thing that has always caused inflation, the FED. Inflation means to get larger, not go up. And it doesn't get smaller, ever. The real purpose of the FED is to enable govt. to spend money without taxing it. Why do you think the Constitution specifies that only gold and silver are to be lawful money? They knew what would happen. That's why we now have almost nonstop war since the Wilson administration that said it would "help business". Well, it certainly helped some of them. The arms merchants and the undertakers.

Although there are MANY things that can cause or contribute to inflation, this was a supply chain caused problem.

Beginning just after the Financial Crisis of 2008, the Fed spent the next 13 years desperately trying to RAISE inflation to their goal of 2%. Despite keeping interest rates at zero and printing money like never before during those years..they failed miserably.

At the end of 2020, inflation was sitting at 1.5% and had not budged in years.

One year into Covid, when people wanted to spend like they did in 2019, there was no stuff for them to buy..inflation went from 1.5% to 9.2% in no time.

As soon as the supply chain began to normalize, so did inflation.
