Well, I couldn't stay awake and turned it off shortly after the 2nd half started. Here's what happened!
The Buffaloes needed all of the heroics from all of the Sanderses on Saturday night as they struggled to fend off Colorado State. Even though the Rams racked up 176 yards in penalties, they led for all but 30 seconds of the second half.
Shilo Sanders, a cornerback who also followed his father from Jackson State, opened the scoring with a pick-six. Shedeur Sanders led the 98-yard game-tying drive at the end of regulation. In the first overtime period, he took a gnarly hit that saw a Rams’ defender ejected for targeting, wiped the blood from his mouth on his father’s sleeve, then threw a touchdown pass.
The Buffs also have perhaps the most dynamic player in college football, fellow Jackson State transfer Travis Hunter. He’s the rare cornerback-wideout hybrid who puts up mind boggling snap counts each Saturday. Hunter was on the field for 265 of 300 possible plays through the first two games.
But against Colorado State, a vicious late hit in the first quarter sidelined him. Hunter left Folsom Field in the second half for treatment at a local hospital and it is not clear whether he will be healthy for next weekend’s trip to No. 13 Oregon.
“To be great you’re going to have to be resilient. You gotta overcome adversity,” Deion Sanders said after the game. “And we overcame.”
What a disappointment for the Rams to come so close!!! But, they have served notice that they are for real this year!
