She's not filthy rich? She's not Jewish? She didn't buy the Mavs? Which is it?

Lots of poor people buy professional sports teams, apparently. Dumbass.

I think there is a difference between "rich" and "filthy rich" depending on how they made their money. Name calling is so "high schoolish".jellowrestling wrote:planosteve wrote:She's not filthy rich? She's not Jewish? She didn't buy the Mavs? Which is it?

OK, let me make it clear: only filthy rich people buy sports teams. And Mark Cuban is Jewish, so what is your point, exactly, other than your normal Jew-hating?

Something about the story just kinda smells...
The casino person is buying the basketball team from the basketball guy so the basketball guy can build a casino where casinos are not legal.
It doesn't make a lot of sense.

He was raised by a Jewish family, but I don't think he is Jewish. If he was why would he have traded for Kyrie Irving? And I have never hated a Jew in my life. My wife was Jewish.jellowrestling wrote:planosteve wrote:I think there is a difference between "rich" and "filthy rich" depending on how they made their money. You'll have to ask Cuban why he traded for Kyrie Irving (I don't give a cr*p, either way). But, yes, he was raised by a Jewish family. His parents.
As far as Jew-hating: your comments speak louder than your protestations to the contrary.

Re: Filthy rich Jewish woman buys the Dallas Mavericks
Growing up in a suburb near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was brought up in a Jewish family. When his grandparents immegrated to America from Russia, they changed their surname from Chabenisky to Cuban.
While Mark Cuban might have been brought up in the Jewish faith, it is not something he fully practiced. This is mainly because his father was not a fully practicing member of the faith for his own personal reasons.
In an interview with the Atlanta Jewish Times, Cuban touched on his faith growing up. He said that he followed in his father's actions mainly because he was more interested in playing sports than going through with a bar mitzvah.
"My dad kind of rebelled against organized religion, but never against his Jewish faith," Cuban said. "But he sat me down one day and told me that it was my decision.""He had not been bar mitzvahed, and I choose to play football on Saturdays instead of going to Saturday school. So, while that was not a feature of my life, growing up Jewish has certainly been. It’s something I’m very proud of."
Even though he might not fully embrace the Jewish faith, it is still an important part of his life.

So, you are capitulating and admitting that you were wrong, and I was right. Check.

Depends on what you mean by "Jewish". If you are born into a Jewish family does that make you Jewish your whole life? If you haven't belonged to a Jewish group or attended services for the last 30 years, are you Jewish? It's a matter of opinion.

Many times, knowing when to shut up is more important than being right.

There is no one more close-minded than one who thinks he is always right.
